Radha’s Message for January 2013
Dear Friends,
I am writing from India where we are midway through some important stakeholder consultations to better understand how the Alliance can add value to the ongoing efforts in the Indian cookstove and fuels sector. It has been good to hear the perspectives of our Indian colleagues regarding specific areas that they believe the Alliance can play a role in.
I want to also share with you updates on the Clean Cooking Forum – we are well over 500 registrants from over 60 countries, and the Alliance staff is hard at work putting the final touches on what I believe will be a fantastic networking, learning, and advocacy event. The latest agenda is posted online and we hope all of you will take a moment to register, make your hotel reservations, and share the Forum information with your colleagues, as space is filling fast.
In the January newsletter, you will also read about the introduction of the new Alliance monitoring and evaluation framework. With this tool, the Alliance will be able to help measure progress towards reaching our key milestone of 100 million households adopting clean stoves and fuels by the year 2020.
Finally, this month’s partner spotlight comes from our friends at Prakti. In this article, you will read about Prakti’s unique approach to overcoming the challenges impeding the cookstoves market. Through a detailed account of Prakti’s key principles, we learn how the organization has been able to overcome market barriers and distribute more than 8,000 clean cookstoves throughout Haiti, Sudan, India, and Nepal.
Please take a minute to read about of our upcoming events, some of our media highlights from the past month and learn about our newest partners.
Best regards,
RadhaMuthiah
