Radha’s Message for January 2016
Dear Friends,
First, I want to say thank you to the many of you who responded to our end of year survey last month. Your acknowledgement of our successes in 2015 and feedback on areas for improvement in the coming years is appreciated and will be taken into account by the Alliance team. We have already used the first couple of weeks of the year to finalize our priorities for 2016. There are two broad areas of focus for us this year – continuing to support the strengthening of the clean cooking sector and mainstreaming the issue of clean cooking as an effective intervention to achieve public health, climate and environment, women empowerment, access to energy and livelihood objectives.
We are continuing our efforts to advocate for the inclusion of cooking related indicators to measure progress against several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and we will also be supporting focus country ministries with the design of the clean cooking components of their countries climate plans. Our advocacy efforts also will focus on securing funding from the various Global Funds that will be supporting the financing for SDGs and COP21 goals.
We are happy to report the Clean Cooking Working Capital Fund managed with Deutche Bank is fully capitalized to support working capital needs of strong and promising enterprises in the sector. Fund raising for various forms of capital to support the growing demand for cookstoves and fuels remains a priority for us this year.
Lastly stay tuned for the release of our Awareness Building and Behavior Change Communication RFP, to be released in the first week of February.
This looks to be another big year and we look forward to working closely with you.
With warm wishes,
Radha
