Dymphna’s Message for April 2018
As most of you know, this is my first week at the Alliance. I’m so excited to be on board and to begin working together with you to address one of the most pressing issues facing the world today.
Throughout my career, I’ve aspired to address global development, energy, and climate issues in both the public and private sectors. I know firsthand the importance of delivering impact that is both inclusive and sustainable. For household energy and clean cooking, this depends on a well-resourced market fueled by resilient enterprises, strong consumer demand, and government policies that support our sector. There is no single solution for this complex issue — it’s going to take a whole systems approach. We must focus on preparing a pipeline of investment-ready businesses and mobilizing investment for their growth. We must find better ways to increase access to cleaner fuel supplies. And we must support innovative stove designs and distribution models.
As I’ve prepared for this role, I have seen and heard much that inspires me. Innovation is ramping up at a much higher pace today than just 2-3 years ago. Institutions that have stimulated growth in other industries are now pivoting towards clean cooking solutions. Thanks to your continued support and engagement, the Alliance is well-positioned to lead our industry forward.
Looking ahead, I hope to meet many of you at the Sustainable Energy for All Forum next week or in the field soon as I travel to see firsthand the work of our in-country partners. I know I speak for the entire Alliance team when I say we are excited to continue to support you as we work together toward universal access to clean cooking solutions.
