Radha’s Message for July 2013
From Germany to Guatemala, I have been on the road over the last few weeks and continue to marvel at the evolution and the progress of the global clean cooking sector. To learn more about some of that progress, be sure to read this month’s articles about the Bonn International Cooking Energy Forum and the Guatemala stakeholder workshop, including my conversation with Guatemalan President Otto Peréz Molina.
As another example of advancements in the sector, I hope you’ll pay special attention to this month’s feature on how the Alliance is increasing investment into the sector, and working with our partners to help them become more investment-ready.
I would also like to commend Rodney Rascona, the director and creator of Black Inside: Three Women’s Voices. His short film that tells three women’s stories related to cookstoves was nominated for a Cannes Lions award last month. Join me in congratulating Rodney!
In the rest of this month’s newsletter, there are tangible ways you can get involved in our collective efforts to continue to save and improve lives worldwide: download a song in support of the Alliance, thanks to Bayer; join our webinar on marketing to the base of the pyramid; and, if you are an Alliance partner, please take time to complete the 2012 Results Reporting survey so that your efforts will be reflected in our progress report on our 100 million by 2020 goals.
Looking ahead, be sure to save the date for the Alliance’s third anniversary event in New York on September 26, as well as our Kenya Country Review meetings the week of October 28th and the first meeting of the ISO Technical Committee 285: Clean cookstoves and clean cooking solutions on November 4th in Nairobi!
Regards,
Radha
