Cookstoves Ambassador José Andrés Advises Innovators at Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kenya
With its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship around the world, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Kenya this month was a fitting place to highlight the innovations and growth happening across the clean cookstoves and fuels market. President Barack Obama keynoted the two-day event, which celebrated entrepreneurs and served as a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas to better support business growth.
Alliance Culinary Ambassador Chef José Andrés joined U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, singer Akon, and Shark Tank TV personality and U.S. Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship Daymond John to speak about Women and Youth Entrepreneurship—a critical subject to address in order to spark development in Kenya and around the globe.
Andrés spoke about the need to better engage women and young people across the cookstoves value chain, highlighting his work with entrepreneurs, particularly in Haiti with World Central Kitchen, and how innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of development.
