Save the date: 4th Annual SAFE Workshop | Nov 28 – Dec 1 | Nairobi, Kenya
Mark your calendars! From November 28 – December 1st, the Alliance will host the fourth annual Safe Access to Fuel and Energy (SAFE) Humanitarian Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya. Registration will open in a few weeks.
The SAFE Humanitarian Workshop is the only annual event that convenes the full range of stakeholders engaged in providing fuel and energy solutions to crisis-affected people, such as refugees, IDPs, and those affected by natural disaster. Its primary objective is to build the knowledge and capacity of field practitioners and other stakeholders to provide effective fuel and energy solutions for cooking, lighting, heating, and powering in humanitarian settings.
The event is also a critical opportunity for aid agencies, NGOs, the private sector, and government representatives to exchange knowledge, develop best practices, and facilitate collaboration. This year, the workshop is supported by the generous contributions of the Dutch and Norwegian governments.
The 2017 SAFE Humanitarian Workshop will have some exciting new features. The SAFE Community has rapidly grown and diversified in the last few years. Accordingly, the 2017 workshop will incorporate strategic discussions on key emerging issues, such as the increasing role of the private sector and the need for a global strategy on energy access for displaced people. Additionally, the United Nations Foundation will host a day-long side event on December 1st dedicated to clean energy mini/micro-Grids in refugee camp settings.
