Tweets of the Month: Zhao Wei and Narendra Modi
What could be better than having two international personalities attract the world’s attention to the issue of clean cooking on social media? That’s what happened in October.
Alliance Ambassador Zhao Wei, a renowned Chinese actress and director, “tweeted” a graphic of herself to her Weibo.com followers with a message about the Sustainable Development Goal #7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
Zhao Wei has 75 million Weibo followers and her post received 46,621 likes, 995 retweets, and 1,296 comments on the day it went live. And according to UN China, they reported their post of the same graphic received nearly 2.8 million views and hundreds of re-posts in less than 24 hours.
And in India, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, Prime Minister Modi used the national holiday to promote clean cooking fuels. The Alliance posted the Modi advertisement to our social media channels and it received more impressions than any other single social message posted in many months.
