Radha’s Message for November 2017
Dear friends,
Like many of you, I spent the first few days of November catching up after the Clean Cooking Forum in Delhi. With more than 600 attendees from 57 countries, the Forum was an incredible opportunity to showcase our shared successes while outlining the best path forward for our sector. For those who weren't able to go in person, I encourage you to check out the wrap up report. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this the largest Forum to date.
This month, the Alliance joined Sustainable Energy for All and many other organizations in launching the People-Centered Accelerator, a partnership to advance social inclusion, gender equality, and women's empowerment in sustainable energy. The Alliance's global behavior change programs continued with the introduction of a fictional mother working to inspire women to make the transition to cleaner cooking in Nigeria. In addition, we have created two Q&As to answer questions around stove and fuel testing, and recent updates to the global burden of disease estimates, which show approximately 2.6 million premature deaths can be attributed to HAP each year.
As the end of the year approaches, I encourage you lookout for two big news items: our 2017 Progress Report and new research expected to show positive birth outcomes from the use of clean cookstoves and fuels. We look forward to the completion of yet another strong year in the clean cooking sector.
Our work continues,
Radha Muthiah
