Eco-Fuel Africa Honored with Award for Excellence

Congratulations to Alliance partner Eco-Fuel Africa for winning “Project of the Year 2015” at the annual Knowledge Exchange Forum (KEF) sponsored by the Energy and Environment Partnership Programme of Southern and East Africa (EEP S&EA).

More than 20 applications were received for this prestigious award that recognizes projects supported by the Finnish Government’s Energy and Environment Partnership.  Sanga Moses, the CEO of Eco-fuel Africa, was motivated to start his business by seeing his sister struggle to provide fuel for the family at the expense of her education.  Moses started Eco-fuel Africa, a small business that works with local communities in Uganda to convert farm and municipal waste into clean cooking fuel briquettes, to help provide Ugandan women with access to clean fuel and has been expanding his production ever since.
