Measuring Social Impact in the Clean and Efficient Cooking Sector: Indicators
Under the Social Impact Measurement System, there is a set of indicators based on key domains of social and economic impact in the clean cooking sector: livelihoods, time use, adoption, household finances, empowerment/agency, status, safety/protection, and drudgery. To develop these indicators, we drew from the existing body of research on women and access to/use of energy, as well as metrics frameworks that have been established within the energy sector and in other similar sectors. They may be used in program design and implementation, and there is a set of surveys available to help partners collect data on these indicators, which can be found at www.cleancookstoves.org/socialimpact.
