Nepal Case Study

In response to the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, in its role as Co-Chair of the SAFE Humanitarian Working Group, coordinated efforts among humanitarian response agencies, community-based organizations, international NGOs, private companies, and the Government of Nepal to assess energy needs and respond accordingly with distributions of solar lamps, fuel efficient cookstoves, off-grid power systems, mobile charging units, and other critical energy supplies to earthquake survivors. A total of 86,147 products were delivered by the organizations who participated in the coordination. This case study describes the coordination process, its long term outcomes, and several tools that facilitates response.
