Clean Cooking Activities

ACREST has been producing and disseminating stoves for the last 7 years. Our staff has received training from GIZ (German Technical Cooperation, Stove program, Kenya) on the production of the clean cooking stove KCJ. We also received a grant from the World Bank to develop green charcoal product (briquettes). We have a nursery for rapid growing trees for afforestation and wood production. To date, ACREST has produced and disseminated over 4000 stoves through a business approach. From 2014, we signed a partnership with Co2balance a carbon credit agency to reduce the price of our stoves by half. This has increased the sale of our stove to over 1000 stoves per year. Our production capacity is 240 stoves per month. We currently have 9 retails points. We established a network of 20 CBOs that produce biochar which is used to produce charcoal briquettes. Over 80 farmers are involved in the production using their agriculture residues.

Partnership

ACREST aims to increase the number of people with access to clean cooking solutions in Cameroon. We would want to offer our platform to disseminate the Alliance's outreach work (i.e. information and awareness materials in Cameroon); become one of the Alliance's focal points in the region; avail our network of more than 2000 people to the Alliance; and train potential entrepreneurs willing to invest in stove production and dissemination. ACREST is committed to the SE4ALL objectives particularly as it relates to universal access to modern energy.
