Mission
AREA’s overall goal is to contribute towards rehabilitation and development of Afghanistan in an environmentally sound manner. This is only possible through the establishment of a strong base, through changes in behaviors, within target communities for an environmentally friendly and self-reliant rehabilitation and development.

Clean Cooking Activities
AREA has been operating as an NGO here in Afghanistan in the field of energy conservation since 1989. AREA Alternative Technologies Department is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and promoting alternative technologies to reduce the pressure on non-renewable sources of energy in the country. The following products have been developed and promoted by the department: solar cooker, solar water heater, energy efficient cookstoves, energy efficient bread baking ovens, photovoltaic ovens, biogas, wind energy turbines, and MHP. In order to improve living conditions and prevent different diseases and reduce the cost of energy consumption, AREA works for the overall goal of contributing towards the rehabilitation and development of Afghanistan in an environmentally sound manner.
Partnership
AREA has partnerships with the UN (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFAO, UNHCR) as an implementing partner and with international organizations: ZoA international strategic partner, WHH international implementing partner, NAC international twining partner, NCA international resource partner. AREA has experience with partnerships with a number of organizations, AREA is ready for any kind of required partnership, including experience sharing, implementation of projects, training and capacity building.
