Clean Cooking Activities
We are a strategic development group that partners with national governments to push for the implementation of sustainable development programs and in this case, the adoption of clean cookstoves in the central African regions of Cameroon,Chad,Gabon,Congo,Equatorial Guinea and Central African Republic. More than 75% of the population in this region are dependent on inefficient cooking methods that adversely impact health and subsequently decreases productivity and livelihoods. We are negotiating a pilot project to partner with the Government of Cameroon to add the adoption of clean cooking methods as a national priority. There are several clean cookstoves initiatives in Cameroon but these are more of entrepreneurial-for-profit ventures and there is a lack of national awareness of the harmful effects of black carbon emissions. Our interest here therefore is to create a public-private partnership with the Government of Cameroon (and other governments in the region) to add Clean Cooking sensitization and implementation as a priority in the national development goals. We hope therefore to draw from the extensive expertise of the Global Alliance to help with the technical aspects of Clean Cookstoves technology and models of implementation and scaling up.
Partnership
We would like to provide the opportunity for the Global Alliance to partner with 5 regional governments (mentioned above)in the Central African region to implement clean cookstoves initiatives that will impact the lives of more than 40 million people. We can provide extensive information on the socio-economic environment which mirrors market barriers that impede the production, implementation and development of sustainable practices for the use of clean cookstoves in these regions.
