Clean Cooking Activities

Without any fossil resources in Mali, our government in 2015 aimed to cover 10% of energy needs by renewable production.
Woodfuels are used to cover 80% of energies needs in Mali, where 55% of land are desert.
Every year more than 400,000 hectares of forest are destroyed, and greenhouse gas emissions are causing many diseases. More than fifteen million Malians burn between 0,535 kg and 1kg of wood per person per day in order to cook food.
Rural women work hard and suffer fro using wood, open fires, and inefficient cookstoves.
For urban households wood energy needs create unsustainable businesses and destroys forests, and creates warming and spoiling. We are living a great environmental disaster in Mali.
As with all critical technologies in Mali, solar energy technologies are lacking even with abundant levels of sunshine! With a minimum of 229 hours of sun shining per month and a solar power of 5.45 KWH / m², Mail has an obvious resource that would exceed energy needs more than 256 times! Photovoltaic technologies remain out of reach and expensive for most people. However, solar cookstoves technologies are a more viable energy source. I am very skilled, motivated, and devoted to fighting against these realities.

Partnership

To fight greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation, and to support the well-being process, we work in Mali:
• To create and install solar cookstoves in 101,654 urban households;
• To perform last generation wood cookstoves; and
• Develop and disseminate solar applications tailored for small and medium agribusinesses.

This work aims to preserve 285,492 tons of wood from cooking fire per year by the end of this project. Through a market management process, we are able to cover the project with 30% the budget.
