Mission
BIX2 is an investment fund that offers Impact Receivables Finance (Carbon Finance) in Sub-Sahara Africa and Southeast Asia to SMEs that target un(der)served populations in order to improve Livelihoods (e.g through clean cooking solutions) for primarily women and children and contribute to Climate Change adaptation and mitigation measured by quantifiable contributions to the global Development Agenda (SDGs).

Clean Cooking Activities
Since BIX2 pre-finances working capital for scale-up against future Impact Receivables, the BIX2 portfolio companies always have strong product- or services portfolio, specifically geared towards the needs and desires of Base of the Pyramid people and households, and have a demonstrated capacity to deliver such products and services in the “Last Mile”. (peri-urban and rural areas) as well as urban setting.
Furthermore, such SMEs have a proven track-record of Impact Monetisation (such as carbon programme and guaranteed offtake) and contribute to a well diversified investment portfolio of BIX2.
Our investments are typically USD 2-5m with an expected repayment period of 3-4 years. Disbursements are usually milestone based.
BIX2 is keen to continue investing in the sector and expects 60-80% of its available capital to invest in clean cooking solutions. The fund will be USD 50-80 million.
Partnership
BIX2 desires to participate with the CCA in identification of viable investment opportunities and joint development of favourable market conditions for SMEs in clean cooking to scale and reach financial viability.
Furthermore, BIX2 wishes to contribute to wider sector development and financial innovation for clean cooking enterprises.
