Clean Cooking Activities
Using social impact investment resources and carbon financing, we work with our on-ground partners and through our own operational platforms to distribute cleaner burning more efficient cookstoves and improved kitchen ventilation in rural and peri-urban households worldwide. Our investment projects have improved the lives of over 16,000,000 people and have reduced over 2,000,000 tonnes of CO₂ emission reductions and counting. We use our experience in the carbon market to develop, conceptualize and pilot new products and markets for verified outcomes in the energy, land use and health sector under pay for performance contracts. In addition to stoves, CQC also works in and supports a number of co-benefiting platforms that include: 1.) Reducing deforestation, land degradation and supporting conservation agriculture, by integrating efficient stoves that burn smaller diameter wood from nitrogen fixing trees as well as fuel-switching to more sustainable forms of biomass. 2.) Improving maternal and child health and wellbeing by reducing exposure to toxic substances and particulate matter in biomass smoke. 3.) Drudgery reduction for women and girls freeing up time that would've been spent gathering wood or cooking to instead use according to their own preferences. 4.) Mitigating climate change and reducing greenhouse gases by reducing unsustainable harvest of woody biomass and avoiding black carbon and methane emissions from inefficient open fires.
Partnership
So far, CQC has worked in 12+ countries and are currently focused on identifying new partners to expand operations throughout the Sub-Saharan region in Africa, more specifically in Rwanda, Angola, DRC, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Madagascar. Most often our on-ground partners are NGOs, however, invariably we favor business-like relationships though commercial incentive-based arrangements operating under revenue models that assure growth and financial sustainability of our partners while strengthening their abilities to implement the projects we finance. By uniting with CCA, our organization seeks to better understand existing partner networks and fuel-efficient cookstove projects and operations in Africa for future collaborative efforts. Our team comprises engineers, scientists, lawyers, auditors, financial analysts, returned Peace Corps Volunteers specialized in climate, environmental, agricultural and energy sector project planning, management and finance with an emphasis on culturally sensitive training and capacity building with a grass-roots approach to development having worked and lived all over the world. Our senior managers, whom of which include founding members of the World Bank’s carbon finance business that pioneered the methods, processes, and documentation for carbon asset creation and monetization, bring a vital network to the heart of our company which allows us to pursue larger-scale projects and reach more people. These are relationships we are prepared to share and build on with CCA as our goals for lifting those in need while operating in a holistic and sustainable framework are synonymous, as we do our part to help create a healthier planet for all.
