Clean Cooking Activities
Carbon Roots International (CRI) currently produces and promotes adoption of sustainable "green charcoal" briquettes as a small-footprint, drop-in replacement for traditional wood-based charcoal in northern Haiti. CRI's green charcoal is produced from renewable biomass such as agricultural waste, doesn't require new cooking technology, and is cheaper than current charcoal fuel.
Partnership
Carbon Roots International, and its partners in the Char Alliance initiative such as EcoFuel Africa, bring expertise in char technologies, both for use as fuel as well as a biochar soil replacement. Green Charcoal and biochar are scalable, feasible, culturally appropriate technology pathways to decrease deforestation and increase agricultural productivity.
