Vision
A Kenya where both rural and urban poor communities countrywide are enjoying better living standards and are empowered to implement initiatives that bring sustained benefits in sound environmental management and access to social and economic services, improved livelihoods and employment opportunities.
Mission
Support communities in their efforts to alleviate poverty through providing financial and technical support to community-based, demand driven and sustainable initiatives that reduce poverty, create socio-economic advancement, conserve biodiversity, and improve ecological stability and environmental management.
Mandate
To support community development initiatives of poor Kenyan communities through their participation and involvement, in development projects, using a flexible demand driven funding mechanism that provides financial and technical support for development projects in health, education, technical training, water supply and sanitation, agriculture and livestock production, economic infrastructure, income generation, environment conservation, threatened ecosystems, solid waste management and environmental awareness and advocacy.

Promotion of improved cookstoves at the community level by supporting local CBOs to undertake the initiatives by themselves
Supporting CBOs to establish mini-hydro power generation in the rural areas using available water resources
Supporting establishment of solar power centres among local communities so as to be used in households and or institutions
Supporting communities to come up with on-farm woodlots for the purpose of generating sustainable supply of fuelwood
Partnership
CDTF can contribute to the campaign by funding local communities in Kenya to establish sustainable supply and demand of various types of clean cookstove technologies.
