Mission
IPATED is a non-governmental organization whose global mission is to help manage and protect the Earth and the environment. We support energy efficiency activities, and particularly focus on biomass energy (i.e. fire wood, charcoal, agricultural and household waste). We are also focused on agroforestry efforts to address afforestation by reforestation of protected areas. We also focus on supporting soil and watershed protection and management. In order to advance our climate change objective, we intend to implement renewable energy applicatio

Clean Cooking Activities
Burundi has an estimated population of 10,000,000 who live in an area of 27,834 sq km. More than 95% of this population uses firewood for cooking, and consume this source of energy at a rate of 4kg/hab per day. High firewood consumption results in negative impacts. The afforestation rate is currently estimated at about 2% per year. Burundi, as a small, but densely populated country has limited capacity to develop agriculturally. To help address these impacts, our oganisation prioritizes the manufacturing and distribution of improved firewood cookstoves for rural and more remote populations, as well as improved charcoal cookstoves for urban populations.
Partnership
