Clean Cooking Activities

Burundi has an estimated population of 10,000,000 who live in an area of 27,834 sq km. More than 95% of this population uses firewood for cooking, and consume this source of energy at a rate of 4kg/hab per day. High firewood consumption results in negative impacts. The afforestation rate is currently estimated at about 2% per year. Burundi, as a small, but densely populated country has limited capacity to develop agriculturally. To help address these impacts, our oganisation prioritizes the manufacturing and distribution of improved firewood cookstoves for rural and more remote populations, as well as improved charcoal cookstoves for urban populations.

Partnership

Our organisation comprises of members with expertise in energy, agroforestry, among other sector experts. Our members help to design and implement projects, while supporting and participating in building capacity programs.
