Clean Cooking Activities
Earth Ovens specializes in building earth ovens for developing communities where the most common method of food preparation is an open wood fire. An earth oven, due to its unique design, provides a safe, efficient, and renewable alternative means of food preparation. Its design eliminates the risk of burn related injuries and provides a clean cooking environment by elevating and enclosing the cooking surface. It is also significantly more efficient because it traps radiant, conducted, and convected heat within the structure, allowing many items to cook as quickly as one, and requiring significantly less fuel to produce the same results as an open fire. Finally, an earth oven is a relatively simple design that can be built and maintained entirely from local and natural material.
Partnership
Earth Ovens would like to participate in the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves by providing our expertise in building earth ovens: a safe, efficient, and renewable method of food preparation. Earth Ovens is currently operating in the Solomon Islands and has connections in other regions of the South West Pacific. We can act as an Alliance representative for clean cooking solutions in this region of the world.
