Mission

Eco group Ltd are the manufactures of a cook stove branded as Eco stoves. The innovation is about a stove that uses rocks to cook instead of charcoal or firewood. The rocks are reusable for a number of months, the stove is smoke free and it has been adopted with other added benefits of lights, phone charging as well as it cooks. its mission is to solve the following;


To reduce deforestation by 95% by promoting the use of reusable stone stoves

To produce a more energy efficient cook stove that delivers immediate environmental, social, economic and technological benefits to the end user

To help the user achieve energy independence

To reduce landfill by promoting the processing of household waste into briquettes which will be used as fire starters for the eco stoves

To fight poverty by promoting skills development in both the unemployed youth and women

To create employment, apprenticeship and entrepreneurial opportunities through the manufacturing, distribution, maintenance of eco stoves

Reduce cooking cost up to 75% by using reusable volcanic rocks

Promote good health by the use of smoke free eco stoves across the developing world suffering from indoor air pollution thought inefficient cook stoves and the added benefit of light bulbs on the eco stoves providing the lighting solution in areas without electricity instead of kerosene lamps

With such a new concept and state of the art cook stove in the kitchen which is free from renewable cost, we brought on board energy systems engineers who specialize in renewable energy. We also have ongoing in depth research into eco stove to ensure it becomes a household product.

Other Technologies Fuels

Eco stoves use reusable volcanic rocks to cook. The volcanic rocks retain heat much longer than any other fuel. Briquettes are used as fire starters and solar is used to power the inbuilt air system that runs forced air tot he stones thus increasing combustion. These are the main source of fuel we use at Eco Group Ltd. It is a new concept in the country and on the continent although we have been able to spread across Africa i.e Somalia and Rwanda.

Clean Cooking Activities

In Uganda and across Africa, there is a rise of clean cook stoves although they all use biomass as their source of fuel which still contributes to the high rate of deforestation. The initiative also includes the use of briquettes which are the source of energy and the stoves have been heavily insulated with clay to retain the heat.® 
90% of Ugandans depend on biomass stoves to cook. These include charcoal, briquette and firewood users. With a population of 34 million people, an average of 7-8 million homes depend on biomass which has increased the level of degradation and put a strain on our natural resources.

Partnership

Eco Group Ltd has a team of committed staff and other partners. However we join the Alliance with a desire to to extensively network and build capacity. With eco stove, we believe that the product once scaled up, will become a household product not only in Uganda, but Africa and the entire developing world as the technology will readily be available and accessible by all partners and will aid in achieving the Global Alliance mission of 100 households by 2020 with this clean, top of the art technology that not only combines various technologies but delivers the much needed solution of cooking, lighting and phone charging to the developing world.®
