Clean Cooking Activities

1,3 million euros of EDP's own funds were applied as social non-refundable investment in environmental sustainable energy solutions for breaking the poverty cycle of 70000 refugees at Kakuma UNHCR Refugee Camp in Kenya, including:
- solar PV systems to provide public street lighting, irrigation, water purification and institutional buildings ilumination;
- solar lamps for students;
- solar cookstoves;
- and also capacity building and entrepreneurship for locals.

Transforming the experience gained with UNHCR at Kakuma to provide affordable modern energy services to poor people in off-grid regions worldwide.
