Clean Cooking Activities
GarDNA Biotech's interest in clean cookstoves is to help speed up the use of alternative fuels (particularly ethanol) in Nigeria as oppossed to kerosene and wood fuels. Nigeria's overdependence on oil has had negative consequences not only for the economy but for the earning and spending power of the poor who are compelled to spend a large proportion of their income on fossil fuels for cooking. By introducing ethanol clean cookstoves to the scene, we hope to help the poorest in society obtain clean cooking fuels cheaply and help them enjoy the health benefits associated with clean cooking. We also want to help the environment by reducing pollution, carbon emissions, and deforestation.
Partnership
Our contribution to this partnership will be primarily in the area of research, development, and distribution of biofuels and emerging technologies relating to clean cookstoves, community education, and employment and microfinancing creation for the poorest in society.
