GIE PADISEN

Mission

PADISEN's mission is to promote the production of the biochar to Senegal from agricultural residues. Over 80% of domestic fuel needs come from forest resources and every year 45,000 hectares of forests are cut to produce some 300,000 tons of charcoal. In addition to this environmental problem, each year 6,300 people are dying, the main victims are women and children. This is what our framework called GIE PADISEN company intends to contribute to the fight against these scourges to produce and market the biochar and improved stoves.

Clean Cooking Activities

The objectives of the society are to develop technologies for energy recovery from biomass, to promote the sustainable management of natural resources, reducing energy consumption to ensure the sustainable supply of energy and people to fight against the greenhouse effect.

As such, a first experiment is about to be developed since 2013 in Fatick with the operation of a small unit of biochar with a capacity of 500 kg / day of organic carbon produced on the basis of fine charcoal (80%) mixed with black clay as binder (20%). After a year of operation, the unit has produced and marketed in the test phase some 30 tons of highly accepted by rural populations products. Several types of biocharbons were produced to measure both their calorific value and the raw materials used.

Partnership

The involvement of many partners (financial institutions, local government, development agencies, local communities, farmers, coal) is required to carry out this type of initiative.

All stakeholders who are affected directly or indirectly by this initiative should be involved in decision making because this project can not be successful without the participation of several actors.

And, as part of the project we want to fund, we already have lots and warehouses, a competent and more than 100 tons of raw materials for making biochar staff. the amount is estimated at some 15 million CFA francs (30 000 dollars US).
