Clean Cooking Activities

The SACCO is comprised of 57 members (30 women and 27 men) whose main line of business is production of improved cookstoves. The SACCO is Located in Murang'a County, Maragua Subcounty and the area is endowed with ceramic clay which is the main raw material in the production of ceramic liners for improved cookstoves. The area is one of the major producers of improved cookstoves in Kenya, supplying firewood and charcoal cookstoves. The members have a capacity of 25,000 units per month which can be scaled upwards to 40,000 units depending on demand.

Partnership

Given the GACC's goal of increasing access to clean cookstoves and fuels for 100 million households, the SACCO can be a key implementing partner in achieving these goals in Kenya. The members of the SACCO have extensive experience in the improved cookstoves market in Kenya and can enable an increase in the adoption of improved cookstoves as high quality and durable products. With support of the SACCO, production be reached at upwards of 50,000 units per month
