Gudie Leisure Farm
Mission
Gudie Leisure Farm is a social enterprise targeting transforming smallholder farmers (SHF) into eco-entrepreneurs through planned, structured, predictable and profitable value chains of smallholder producers, youth agrientreprenuers, franchisees, incubatees and vendors.
Our organization launched the Khainza Energy Project in 2015 to improve access to clean cooking fuel for low income populations. We produce, purify and package affordable biomethane in cylinders. The project was selected as the TOTAL Startupper of the Year, 2016.

Clean Cooking Activities
In Uganda, 94% of the population relies on biomass fuels (charcoal, firewood, dried leaves etc) as their primary cooking fuel. These fuels are associated with very adverse health effects, especially in women and children.
Biogas has been identified as the best alternative to use of biomass fuels. The challenge, however, is high initial installation costs which make unsuitable for adoption by low income populations. Due to the corrosive nature of biogas, it is hard to handle, store and transport.
Our organization is countering this challenge by purifying raw biogas to biomethane (98% pure) and packaging it in high pressure cylinders. Currently, we are able to package up to 20 cylinders per week.
We sell a 6kgs cylinder of biogas at only US$10. This is marginally cheaper than charcoal, and yet it lasts just as long. Our gas is clean, affordable and sustainable.
We are also in the process of designer a gas burner (stove) which reduces gas consumption by at least 15%.
Partnership
Our partnership with GACC will offer both organizations significant mutual benefits. We would like to work with GACC and other partners in collaborative research which will lead to improved cooking technologies. We would like to share our local findings (e.g. fuel use vs demographic, pricing, carbon emissions levels etc) with GACC and other partners.
We would like to meet and work with professionals in the clean cooking sector. We want to receive mentoring and training on how best to scale up our operations. Our partnership with GACC provides a unique opportunity to network with key stakeholders in the clean cooking sector.
Our organization would like to partner with GACC in order to mobilize resources and finances to improve and scale up our project. Our product is unique and needed in the market. However, in order to ensure commercial feasibility, we need funding. We hope that this partnership will enable us to leverage for funding .
We shall be an implementing partner of GACC projects in Uganda. Whenever GACC calls us upon (for research, product development or implementation), we shall be more than obliged to respond positively. We shall carry out our operations in line with the achievement of the GACC vision, mission and organization objectives.
