Kamwege hosts Kibale National Park, a primate capital of Africa with a large forest cover. The increasing population has forced the local people to do illegal activities around the National Park, including cutting down the existing forest which is a habitat for wildlife. This forces existing primates to flee after being exposed.
It is on this basis that HEVIA came up with an idea for constructing energy saving stoves for each household to reduce pressure exerted on natural forests. HEVIA is also advocating for alternative sources of energy in the community.
HEVIA offers community education and outreach programs for local communities. This equips the community with knowledge on the importance of conserving the environment. It also demonstrates the advantages of using the energy saving stoves compared to the traditional ways of cooking.
Partnership
Constructing energy saving stoves for each household to reduce pressure exerted on natural forests. HEVIA is also advocating for alternative sources of energy in the community. We are seeking a partnership that can facilitate the projects and enable delivery of projects to rural communities.
