Mission
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
IVDS is a non government, non political and non profitable community development organization (NGO). In 1994 a group of social and development minded people together come forward to help the disadvantaged, under privileged, and disabled people as charity club. The mandate of IVDS is to promote gender equality and equity, human rights, and to foster the empowerment of the backward and most disadvantaged rural and urban people including disabled children, adolescent and aged people, poor women and children of Bangladesh. The organization aims to mobilize the promoting the life status of the poor, indigenous, disabled, disadvantaged women and children and mainstreaming them with the development intervention considering them as social change actors in a comprehensive development approach. IVDS main intervention strategy is to empower its target group socially, physically and economically and make them able to influence the policy of government through advocacy, lobbying and networking. Since its inception IVDS involves government agencies of different sectors, local government authorities in the process of development through implementation of different projects.

Clean Cooking Activities
IVDS® is making its position with improved cookstoves among beneficiaries, through awareness building programs, video projection, and village meetings giving the people real examples of the benefits. Our workers motivate people to take improved cookstoves and create demand among community people that wish to change their cooking habits. The stove is offered free of cost under the condition that they will return the fuels saved after using our stove.
Partnership
IVDS wishes to contribute to the partnership in the following ways: 1. To strengthen present
ICS network 2.To encourage local entrepreneurs to commercialize improved and reliable
stoves in Bangladesh, which are adapted to local cooking conditions. 3. To collaborate with
other organisations who are pioneers in the design of improved stoves to meet local needs.
4. Participate in inter-institutional/organisational training and research into improved
stoves, health risk and exposure assessments using standardised equipment. 5. Provide
expertise to needy organisations in the area of indoor air pollution management. 6.
Exchange of information and sharing of research findings with partners
