Clean Cooking Activities

Our flagship project, IEMaC (Innovations in Ecosystem Management and Conservation), aims to reduce the pressure on forest resources through efficient use of forest resources by developing innovative gender sensitive and user-friendly models for improved fuelwood management, community-centric sustainable NTFP value chains and forest monitoring tools.

IORA’s Indian Organic Waste Management Programme (IOWMP), setup in partnership with our award winning technology partner BIOTECH Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd., aims to promote clean technologies for household, community and institutional organic waste management. The biogas units installed under this program will enable generation of energy through the production of biogas via anaerobic digestion of household’s organic waste and it will also generate carbon credits against methane emission reductions.

Partnership

Our IEMaC Fuelwood System Dynamics Model (IFSDM) is a decision support tool for fuelwood management in India. In the forestry sector, system dynamics modeling helps to understand the dynamic nature of forest ecosystem, the end users of a forest resource and the relationship between them. This tool will scientifically identify and examine multiple investment opportunities (e.g. cookstoves, biogas, etc. for domestic and commercial rural energy users) to reduce fuelwood pressure on forest. It will have high replication potential nationwide. The impact of each of these investments can then be analyzed by running simulations and the most feasible investments can be adopted on ground.
Such a tool is extremely pertinent to clean technology companies, donors, government bodies, etc. We are looking to network as we have ongoing projects involving clean cooking technologies.
