Clean Cooking Activities

IUCN's Gender Senior Advisor Office is implementing, in alliance with ENERGIA and Latin American Energy Organization, the project " Women as Leaders and Agents of Change in the Energy Sector".®  This initiative®  seeks to enhance the mainstreaming of gender considerations in the Central American energy sector as well as advocacy on gender, energy, and climate issues at the international level.

The main groups participating in this project are:

In the Central American region: multi-stakeholder groups (including government officials from the Ministries of Energy and Environment), HIVOS partners, and civil society initiatives/women's organizations. Focus will be given to work in four countries: Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

At the international level, through the advocacy work: partners within the ENERGIA network from Africa and Asia, and representatives from Central America, as well as supportive governments, agencies and organizations, including those involved in the Sustainable Energy for All initiative and the Global Gender and Climate Alliance.®

® Objectives and outcomes

The present project has two main objectives:

The capacity to address gender considerations in the energy sector in Central America has been enhanced.

Gender mainstreaming has been promoted in international, regional and national policies, projects and investments on energy access and climate change.

®
OBJECTIVE®  2
Gender mainstreaming has been promoted in international, regional and national policies, projects and investments on energy access and climate change.
