Clean Cooking Activities

LGH Initiative is deeply concerned with the adoption of less environmentally harmful technologies in solving everyday problems of people living in rural areas; the adoption of globally accepted eco conservation policies. These concerns have given rise to the various public enlightenment activities. Activities are created in any forms that captures the mind of the public; (education, entertainment and visual arts).

LGH Initiative already holds workshops, seminars and rallies which enlighten rural community members about climate change as is related to deforestation and burning of fuel wood. We discovered that our "no more deforestation" efforts amounts to almost nothing when there is no economically and utility feasible alternative.

Partnership

We intend to spend quality time during our events to campaign for an alternative (the most economical; which automatically is the most feasible) source of cooking fuel: THE USE OF CLEAN COOKSTOVES. We intend to connect local sales persons resident in these rural areas directly to sales representatives as directed by clean cookstoves Nigeria management.

Aside from the workshops rallies and seminars, we intend to exploit all the means of awareness creation as applicable to that unique community. This will include public announcements done routinely in local languages, the use of graphics and print media to advertise the clean cookstoves as a preferred alternative. We intend to make available all the information that can connect a local clean cookstove buyer to a local clean cookstove seller. We intend to also make available to the Local Governments, politicians and leaders, the direct contact to the large-scale dealers of clean cookstoves and we intend to encourage them to develop subsidizing schemes to make these cookstoves more affordable to their people.

For sustainability of our climate change mitigation and adaptation project, we are already training peer educators resident in rural areas. We intend to connect them to the clean cookstoves network led by Clean cookstoves Nigeria.
