Clean Cooking Activities

Multi-Link Group Limited is a limited liability company incorporated in Kenya in 2010 and set to revolutionize green business landscape in the region by bringing clean energy solutions for home based cooking incorporating new technologies that will improve peoples' standards of living, health and eliminate energy poverty burden. Multi-Link introduced 'Protos', a Plant Oils Stove technology designed by Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group (BSH) of Germany and now customized to suit local conditions. The stove has ushered in new and modern cooking lifestyle for Kenyan households as well as augmenting environmental conservation. We are thus set to play a key role in provision of clean cooking solutions. Multi-Link is partnering with the government and the private sector to provide the most innovative clean cookstoves business in Kenya, creating jobs, reducing pollution, tackling climate change and reducing over reliance on firewood and imported kerosene fuel.
One of our key partners is Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI), which is a flagship programme under the Office of The Prime Minister whose main objective is to catalyze demand driven green consumerism, backed by a strong, green industrial revolution and enhanced environmental protection through public participation in green initiatives. Clean renewable energy is the best way forward to steer a developing nation. At Multi-link, we believe in upgrading the standards of all and sundry including the low income earners who opt for inefficient, unhealthy products as they are affordable oblivious of the decrementing social and health risks associated with them.
Most households in Kenya rely on open fires to prepare their food and kerosene for lighting which have been documented to be a cause of various health complications. Others use charcoal and kerosene which contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. The use of these fuels has wide spread negative impacts with indoor pollution mostly affecting women and children; being the ones traditionally tasked with running the household chores.
Being in the cookstove business, we have a good idea of the challenges in the market as well as the opportunity it presents. We have established links and networks which can also be used to propel the clean stoves including the Bioethanol stoves. We are holding talks with Mumias Sugar Company to jointly work on a CSR project in which it will support its sugar cane farmers acquire the ethanol stoves from us while the sugar company supplies them with ethanol. We also have agreements with some banks and Microfinances Institutions (MFIs) which offer loan facilities to our customers.
In our quest to improve the livelihoods of the below average income earners who are also the most illiterate in our society, we not only educate them on the impact of the use of traditional fuels but also provide them with affordable alternatives thus our interest in the Bioethanol stoves. Locally manufacturing the stoves will make the technology much more affordable not to mention other gains that will be accrued from it like creation of jobs. We are therefore very keen on locally manufacturing all our stoves. We believe in high quality standards right from production to service delivery thus guaranteeing customer satisfaction. We endeavor to offer nothing but the best.
