Clean Cooking Activities
NaDEET's primary project is our environmental education centre where school children and community members learn about sustainable living with a focus on solar cooking and the use of fuel efficient stoves.
Our community programme includes the opportunity for participants to earn vouchers towards purchasing a parabolic solar cooker to help address the current financial and physical barriers to solar cooking in the country.
NaDEET Centre has successful solar cooked for approximately 50 participants at a time for week long residential programmes for the past ten years. Through environmental auditing we can show that our carbon footprint from all of our cooking activities is only 10% of what it would be were we to use traditional, carbon-intensive methods.
Partnership
Our main contribution is to demonstrate the success of using a "we practice what we teach" approach to our environmental education centre. Many programmes tell others what they should do, however do not actual lead by example.
