Clean Cooking Activities

Our SME is comprised of conservationists who feel strongly about helping communities to better manage their natural resources upon which their long-term well-being depends. Our work is guided by two core beliefs:
Natural resources are best protected when local people play an active role in their care and management; and
Preserving local ecosystems is essential for the ongoing social, economic, and environmental health of communities everywhere.
For Most people use firewood and other traditional biomass for cooking, leading to detrimental health impacts and environmental degradation, hence we promote cookstoves, biomass briquettes and biogas for cooking as providing opportunity to improve the quality of their lives, while also making a positive impact on the environment.
Due to this, Households can spend as little as $0.90 for biomass briquettes per month and through this leveled payments each family could afford to purchase a cookstove from us based on these expected monthly fuel savings.

In East Africa, many cookstoves are produced and sold by local entrepreneurs.

Partnership

These energy efficient cookstoves which we sell to families typically use biomass briquettes for fuel and can be developed to suit household and institutional applications. These household cookstoves start at a retail cost of around $15 (or a leveled cost of $2.5 per month for six months) which in turn can save a family 30 to 50 % income per month in fuel costs and as we distribute, we earn revenue from carbon credits, which can also help our partnership activities with you to reach many households in the rural areas of this region.
