Clean Cooking Activities

The use of clean cookstoves is considered as a good alternative to enhance energy efficiency related to fuelwood in rural areas while preserving health of consumers by avoiding CO2 emissions. Thus, this alternative was widely valorized in the last decade through regulated or voluntary carbon markets as Clean Development Mechanim (CDM) market or Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard (GSF) markets respectively in around a hundred of projects. In the latest years, with the emergence of the Reduction of Emissions resulting from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) mechanism, clean cooking appeared as a potential solution to reduce forest degradation facing however technical and methodological issues for full integration within REDD (Parker et al., 2015). ONF International intervenes in around thirty CDM, MOC or voluntary projects, advising companies in their RSE strategies, supporting countries in international negotiations or in the implementation of national strategies linked to adaptation and the fight against deforestation.
