Project Gaia, Inc.

Mission

Project Gaia, Inc. is part of a global initiative for the development of cleanâ€cooking fuels. It seeks to establish and promote the use of alcohol fuels for household energy for all who have limited access to clean energy, including disadvantaged and marginalized people who suffer the added burden of being energy poor. Ethanol and methanol (the simple alcohols) are outstanding fuels that enable families to meet their daily household requirements for cooking.

Clean Cooking Activities

Project Gaia works in both commercial and humanitarian settings to facilitate the adoption of alcohol fuels and clean cookstoves.

We work together with local private sector partners to develop ethanol fuel and ethanol cookstove supply chains. We seek to ensure a sustainably sourced and continuous fuel supply and the eventual local manufacture of stoves in project countries.

Our work in UNHCR camps aims to provide refugee families with access to clean household energy. We are currently implementing partners of the UNHCR in Ethiopia and are working to expand our reach to additional camps in Eastern Africa.

Partnership

Project Gaia is eager to participate in the GACC in hopes of placing alcohol fuels on the global agenda and advancing the cause of truly clean household energy for all.

We believe that modern fuels like ethanol have the potential to change the face of energy poverty and advance development on all fronts-- economically, environmentally, and socially.

Through a parnternship with GACC, we hope to see our experience and expertise can translate into real world success so that all households can cook cleanly and safely.
