Proto Energy is in Malawi to form part of the development of the poor, to enhance the health and safety of poor communities and to assist local entrepreneurs to get more exposure with regards to their own businesses.

Proto Energy was formed in South Africa and Proto Energy in Malawi is the first to go beyond the borders of South Africa.

The MD/Owner has managed this business for the past two years in Malawi and has recently become the sole owner of the company. I have a vast market experience in the specific field as well as portable solar lighting. I am also in planning with establishing product projects in Kasungu National park to prevent environment damage and have wide experience in marketing, training, planning and execution of projects. Establishment of entrepreneurs are also one of the experience points which I have first hand experience of.

In 2012, Proto Energy was registered as a sole proprietor in Malawi under the Directorship of Mr. Bernard Swanepoel. Since its inception, a lot of ground work has been done and stakeholders approached and given demonstrations. Due to the finding that the business is sustainable, Deloitte has been given instruction to register the company as a Limited company with a MD, 2 Directors from Malawi and one director from South Africa and Deloitte will be appointed as Secretary.

We have already distributed a total of 450 stoves throughout the country and there are several orders from businesses such as Illovo and Citrefine Plantations which must be realized in the next three weeks.

Working close with the UN High Commission for Refugees.

Planning a project around Kasungu National Park involving the local population in and around park.

Distribution to staff of Organizations like Citrefine Plantations.

Proto Energy is also working closely with other environmental safe organizations such as Mwanalaweze in Salima and Powered By Nature in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

Proto Energy has also been invited to attend a 3 day work session at the Mulanje trust to discuss how the products can be integrated into their projects.
