Clean Cooking Activities
The Regional Federation of Farmers' Organizations, farmers, women, microentrepreneurs and the like, FEROCAMS, carried out the Project for the construction of improved kitchens and establishments of biomass modules for the extraction of fuel in six communities in the upper part of the Artibonito River, through an alliance with another organization such as the ng FUNARA Foundation and CODECAS Confederation. The project started on August 17, 2009, following the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the organizations consortium. The consortium. This project involves the construction of 400 more stoves for very poor communities, as well as efforts to help grassroots community organizations contemplate the implementation of community management committees. Also a component of reforestation and training of families on the use of improved kitchens and on the conservation of biodiversity. The importance of this project is that it saves 75% of the energy of plant origin, this implies a significant economy for the families in terms of resource and time, also allows the renewal of the natural resources, which are highly pressured, to the demand The use of firewood by families to sew and prepare their food. Another positive aspect of the project is that they contribute to health as it prevents people from contracting ophthalmic diseases caused by carbon dioxide.
