Mission
Restio Energy is committed to improving access to renewable and clean energy solutions for rural and urban communities. We focus on understanding energy poverty and scarcity and developing sustainable solutions to address these realities. We know technologies work; it's their sustainable implementation that remains the challenge. Restio Energy works with different technologies, people and contexts to develop appropriate solutions to improve access to modern and clean energy services.

Restio Energy has been involved in the Energy/development sector for over 12 years, looking at sustainable business models for energy service delivery, the productive use of renewable energy and household energy use patterns and associated market opportunities. We have worked with a range of development and donor organisations including the World Bank, IFC, UNDP, Unido, GIZ, MCC amongst others.

While we have stronger working associations with particular technologies and energy sources, such as solar PV, Biomass, LPG, Kerosene, etc. our approach is nevertheless fairly technology neutral, looking at sustainable mechanisms and opportunities surrounding improved access to modern and clean energy sources.
Clean Cooking Activities
Restio Energy distributes clean cookstoves in South and Southern Africa. In addition, Restio Energy is currently employed as the Supervision Consultant on a solar PV initiative in Kigoma, Tanzania, which includes a strong focus on household energy use. We are also currently working on a market entry and distribution strategy for Philips who are looking to service the Southern African market with their fan and natural draft improved cookstoves
