University of the Western Cape, Engineers without borders - Our stoves have made the headline news by reducing in the local communities of the Cape flats. Matthew and his team have purchased more than 500 stoves.
CART- Eastern Cape (Centre for Appropriate Rural Technology) was founded by Luke Boshier in 2007 in the village of Sicambeni 17kms south of Port St Johns. The successful development methodologies evolved over time have increasingly attracted attention from local traditional leaders and community organisations. CART's primary goal has always been to create a replicable model for self-sustainability using the natural and social resources of a community whilst acting as an example to the surrounding villages. Their primary focus begins with providing the basic requirements for sustaining life - food, safe water, sanitation and well-built shelter and this approach always underpins CART's developmental work. CART have successfully introduced and integrated our stoves into the communities in the Eastern Cape.
Partnership
Our organization, through years of research and design and development, has developed a simple, efficient, durable and cost effective multi-fuel stove. We have refined the production process allowing us to produce a quality product in a very short time in a cost effective manner . We have the ability to manufacture and supply high volumes with minimal lead time. We have worked with several NPO/NGOs in the past, we have visited sites, the people that cook on the stoves, chiefs community leaders, schools and ministries, given cooking demonstrations, made tea, pap, phutu, curries, rice stews and many more, we cook at home on them, we are passionate about all forms of appropriate technology, low carbon footprints, food forests and sustainable living, we have started several companies that follow this theme.
