Working for the empowerment of poor and under privileged, with special focus on women and children, Shramik Bharti facilities and fosters people’s democratic institutions. Committed to a human development approach, Shramik Bharti facilitates to enlarge people’s choices by assisting them in development of their capabilities and preparing them to have better control over their lives. Shramik Bharti is, therefore, a way of seeing and respecting people. Our programmes grow out of that respect.

Clean Cooking Activities
Our organisation partnered with The Energy and Resources institute in 2013 to disseminate clean energy solutions, including forced draft gasifier cookstoves, with or without bundled lighting solutions. The dissemination was carried out in a pro-poor, inclusive market-mode, driven by women entrepreneur groups (SHGs). The intervention was focused in the area of Kanpur dehat in Uttar Pradesh (India). Currently, various women groups supported by Shramik Bharti are engaged in diverse segments of the cookstoves value chain, including manufacturing, retail, finance, product promotion and training.
Partnership
Shramik Bharti would like to organize its interventions in mainstreaming gender in cookstove value chains into an integrated market institution. For this, our organisation seeks technical and financial support of the Alliance and its partners, to scale up and replicate its interventions. Furthermore, our organisation can provide key inputs in establishing and strengthening women-led cookstove value chains in other Indian states, and other nations.
