Clean Cooking Activities

Early in its history, Solar Cookers International identified an urgent need for refugees and villagers in Africa to cook and pasteurize water, and SCI designed a panel solar cooker, the CooKit, to meet this need. Solar Cookers International continues to make this product available worldwide. In addition, Solar Cookers International works with partners globally to address health and energy needs in a variety of sensitive populations and environments. For example, Solar Cookers International has Kenyan partners. These partners educate people about the benefits of solar cooking and distribute solar cookers to vulnerable populations. Solar Cookers International gathers and disseminates up to date information about solar cooking through email newsletters, the solar cooking wiki (solarcooking.org), global conventions, webinars, social media, etc.

Partnership

Solar Cookers International is the leader and connecting link between solar cooking researchers, non-profit organizations, manufacturers, distributors, etc. Solar Cookers International maintains a database of information related to solar cooking (solarcooking.org), organizes biannual global conferences, and facilitates communication and collaboration among its partners. In addition, Solar Cookers International has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and has presented multiple times at the Convention on the Status of Women.
