Clean Cooking Activities

Driven by its strong focus on women's empowerment and inclusive development, Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security and Economic Development (SAFE) is engaged in research, development, and promotion of women's time poverty and workload reduction technologies, such as biogas, improved cookstoves, solar power, and the recycling of crop residues for farming and household purposes. These technologies and interventions can economically empower women and address power imbalances at the household level, while safeguarding the environment and building the climate adaptive capacity of rural households.

Partnership

As a national think tank, SAFE will serve as a catalyst for deep and long lasting changes in the areas of climate and smart growth by using its well-established network Scaling Up Sustainable Agriculture Network (SUSAN). SUSAN comprises of like-minded organisations working together to jointly learn, discover, implement, and advocate for technological changes that are beneficial for rural households.
