Clean Cooking Activities

Working in partnership with smallholder farming families across Central America, Sustainable Harvest International promotes the use of SHI designed and co-constructed clean cookstoves that are efficient, effective and healthier compared to existing cooking methods. SHI's clean cookstove models are culturally appropriate and provide extensive positive benefits to the user. These include, but are certainly not limited to: cleaner air, decreased amount of firewood needed leading to a decrease in deforestation and time spent collecting firewood, quicker cook times leading to spent on other activities, etc. SHI clean cookstove are built in partnership with families to promote stove ownership and ensure any maintenance issue can be solved from within the home, with local materials.

Partnership

SHI seeks a partnership with the Clean Cooking Alliance in an effort to participate in its growing network of stakeholders. We hope to learn from others, connect with potential funding opportunities, and contribute to the important discussion around clean cookstoves. We are happy to share our story as an organization building clean cookstoves with smallholder farming families for over two decades. We can contribute our data + research, along with individual stories. Finally, we can promote our CCA partnership on our website and in social media.
