Clean Cooking Activities
Sustainable Integrated Landscape Development Organization (SIDO) is a multidisciplinary NGO that speciralizes in clean energy solutions, research, consultancy and sustainable development programs. SIDO is currently collaborating with WWF-Kenya to implement energy efficiency activities in Nakuru County with a view of reducing energy costs, ecological footprints and habitat destruction by households and institution thereby directly contributing to the realization of clean energy for all.
SIDO is currently collaborating with Kenya Forest Service in restoration of Mau Forest a situation that is hampered by
households and institutions that depend on firewood and charcoal for cooking. The high demand for firewood and charcoal has accelerated the rate of Mau forest destruction, increased the levels of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change and global warming.
SIDO proposes design and installation of improved multi-functional energy saving cook stoves, renewable energy technologies and energy efficient appliances in households and institutions. This is aimed at reducing the demands for firewood and charcoal, save energy cost and improve health.
Partnership
Sustainable Integrated Landscape Development Organization (SIDO) seeks to scale up its flagship clean energy project that was initiated in the year 2015. The project was piloted in Kuresoi and aimed at reversing environmental destruction by reducing illegal logging and harvesting of wood fuel through the adoption of modern and affordable high saving energy cook stoves. The project was successfully piloted and due to the huge successes realized in the pilot phase which saw more than 850 household adopt the use of energy saving cook stoves, 7,400 tree seedlings planted and 3 schools installing the high energy efficient multi-purpose energy saving institutional stoves. SIDO seeks to build on this momentum by partnering with Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. Our organization will contribute its expertise and network to ensure the overall goal of Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in fully realized.
