Mission

The goal of this is project is, to improve access to sustainable energy and diversification of livelihood option as means to ensuring environment conservation in Panyimur and Parombo Sub Counties in Pakwach and Nebbi Districts respectively.

Clean Cooking Activities

Notably, 36% of households in Nebbi District have kitchen inside in the living houses which 99% crude wood fuel in the traditional three stone oven which is wasteful and smoky and thus contributing to acute respiratory infections (ARI) due to the pollution caused by gases (smoke) form the crude source of energy and poor firing method. This is a health risk factor especially for the children under 5. Thus there is a great and urgent need for cleaner and sustainable energy that promotes environmental sustainability, improved food processing and public health in both households and schools through the provision energy saving stove.

Partnership

The project will increase access to clean and affordable energy for the local population in Parombo and Panyimur sub county especially women and girls who travel long distance to collect firewood and or those who cannot afford the expensive firewood.
Reduced acute respiratory infections (ARI) among women and girl children caused by the traditional crude cooking methods (open fire and three-stone method in closed and poorly ventilated kitchens.
Environmentally, there will be improved biodiversity due to reduced tree cutting for energy and reduced droughts in the local area due to the increased tree planting.
