Clean Cooking Activities
We are working on the EPSRC-funded project (£609k) "From the Indian Copper Belts to Chulhas: Affordable Thermoelectric Materials for Rural India", which seeks to develop cheap but efficient thermoelectric materials that could be used in devices to generate electricity from the heat of traditional cooking stoves in India. In particular, we will create new sulphide TE materials for electricity generation that are derived from minerals of which India has abundant reserves, in the Indian copper belts. Our research team is led by Prof. Anthony Powell and includes researchers from the University of Reading and the University of Manchester in the UK, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in India.
Partnership
We would like to engage with other organisations interested in improving cooking stoves using thermoelectric devices.
