VERC is a National NGO that has been working in ICS sector since 1987. It disseminates primarily clay 1, 2 & 3 pot stoves. Currently VERC has started to use the same concrete design as GIZ and Grameen Shakti. VERC now runs integrated ICS program by its own fund and another one is Carbon Finance driven. Their approach is to recruit, train and support local female entrepreneurs in each community in selected areas.

In 2000, VERC formed a national network named “Improved Cookstoves Program in Bangladesh” with the support of ARECOP-Indonesia. The Network involves 93 NGOs working across 28 districts.[1]

Very recently, VERC has developed ICS Testing Facilities and they have skilled tester for conducting WBT , CCt and KPT.

In addition to that VERC has accomplished several studies along with World Bank, US Aid, Winrock International and ARECOP. More over, there are several VIDEO documentary, IEC/BCC materials and training module developed on ICS by VERC

Partnership

The VERC wishes to contribute to the partnership in the following ways: 1. To strengthen present ICS network. 2. To encourage local entrepreneurs to commercialize improved and reliable stoves in Bangladesh, which are adapted to local cooking conditions. 3. To collaborate with other organisations who are pioneers in the design of improved stoves to meet local needs. 4. Participate in inter-institutional/organisational training and research into improved stoves, health risk and exposure assessments using standardized equipment. 5. Provision of expertise to needy organisations in the area of indoor air pollution management. 6. Exchange of information and sharing of research findings with partners.
