Emergency Saving Stoves: Organized women CBOs to be supported to manufacture, distribute and promote improved cooking stoves, reducing indoor air pollution and fuel consumption by engaging women in the production of energy saving jiko liners, clean cookstoves. Women engaged in the production and distribution. Installation of several biogas plants: Use of biogas as fuel to supply homes or small scale farmers. Rehau biogas units are already in use in WHH- western Kenya and are ideal since they utilize dung from as little as two dairy cows to produce 3 hours of heating.

Partnership

The Kenya team would be looking at providing skills to women on renewable energy systems, organizing women to form self-help groups and VSLA groups, providing “seed” money or startup capital, linking the groups micro finance institutions to provide loans.

The Kenya team would like to look at the creation of women run renewable energy villages- This involves identification of a village where several components or activities or renewable energy can be implemented.
